Finally got around to drawing these two characters from “Different and Cool: Extracurricular.” I’d like to use them in other stories, if I have the opportunity.
Different and Cool: Extracurricular
A new story in the Different and Cool series is up on RISANF.COM, titled “Extracurricular.” Featuring Lydia Marquise, Tarah’s rival who first appeared in “Love’s a Polygon” over 18 years ago, she is making a long-overdue comeback. Check it out in the Original section.
Final Fantasy Platformer
Finally got around to updating the site with the new Final Fantasy content. Final Fantasy Platformer is a fangame that I’ve been working on for about half a year, and I just recently completed it. It’s a short game, only 5 levels, but I think it’s fun. Also, it gave me a chance to work on creating sprites again, especially for Cloud Strife, a character I haven’t worked on until now.
Check it out!
Valentine's Day 2024
It’s been a while since I’ve updated this site, but I thought I’d share my annual Valentine’s Day picture. This year, it’s Future Trunks and Future Mai from Dragon Ball Super. This is the rare case of a Dragon Ball couple that actually has some decent development behind it, so I’ve been wanting to draw these two for some time now. Hope everyone enjoys it.
Moonlighers: Version 1.1.0
The latest version of my game, Moonlighters, has just been released on GameJolt! Version 1.1.0 adds new artwork for the cutscenes, and makes all four characters (Andy, Tarah, Clark, and Moses) available at the onset. I’ve also added a new animation for the Credits screen, which you can see below.
Valentine's Day 2023
This Valentine’s Day picture is inspired by a great My Hero Academia fancomic called “Princess and the Hero” by Clawde. I like doing artwork and stories about awkward, earnest characters like Tsuyu, so I decided that 2023 was the year to go all green with Valentine’s Day!
Moonlighters Released!
Today marks the official release of Moonlighters at GameJolt! After almost 4 years, it’s hard to believe I’ve seen this project all the way to the end. There’s a lot more work to be done trying to promote the game, but I can rest a little now that the core task is done. Regardless of whether the game is successful or not, in my heart, the satisfaction of finishing it is worth its weight in gold.
Update: Birthday Picture (Trials of Mana)
I decided to do another birthday card for my brother this year. He thinks the characters in “Trials of Mana” are kind of irritating, so I make sure to depict them as annoying as possible. ;P
Update: Alternate Andy
I’ve added a special alternate costume for Andy in the Moonlighters game. This is “Alternate Andy,” a sort of 90s edgelord look for Andy. Inspirations include Sephiroth for the shoulder armor, and also a character I dimly remember from a Gunsmith Cats trailer. I think I need to stop adding content to the game, otherwise I’ll never get done!
Update: Professor Clark and Moses Champion
I’ve added two more pictures of characters from my Moonlighters game. Prof. Clark and Moses are “secret characters” to be accessed in the game through a hidden code. The game itself is on the verge of being completed, after over three years of off-and-on work. Now, I just have to decide what website I’m going to post it on, and if I’m going to charge for it.
Update: Kirby and the Georgia Bulldogs
Today’s update is a punny picture featuring Kirby celebrating UGA’s victory over Alabama. You can’t know how satisfying it is to finally get one over on Alabama, unless you live in Athens like me.
Valentine's Day 2022
It’s been a year since I’ve updated the site, on Valentine’s Day 2021. I’ve actually been doing a lot of stuff this past year, so I should probably update for frequently. This year’s Valentine Day picture is Scott Pilgrim and Knives Chau, to ride the wave of the recent Scott Pilgrim resurgence. There’s a lot I want to say about the Scott Pilgrim movie and its alternate ending, but I figure I’d get this picture out first and see how it does.
Valentine's Day 2021
This year’s Valentine’s Day picture is Jason and Eve from Blaster Master Zero. I had a hard time choosing up with the subject for Valentine’s Day 2021; it was very nearly going to be another Legend of Zelda picture. But I really like the character designs from Blaster Master Zero, so this got chosen. Hope you enjoy it..
Moonlighters Version 25.0
MAJOR update for the Moonlighters game! Version 25.0 offers two levels, four playable characters, a new shop system, and a host of other fixes. For instance, Andy has been given a buff; his attack speed is 20% faster now. Check it out at the Original section.
UPDATE 11-11-20: Changed version to 26.0. Hit detection bugs have been addressed, and an additional edit was given to Tarah’s ranged attack.
Artist's Retreat
About two weeks ago, I took a trip to my uncle’s cabin for a weekend vacation. Cut off from the internet and the outside world, I decided to take the opportunity to make some new sketches. I’ve just now finished the colored versions of the pictures, so there’s a plethora of new artwork in the Original section. Also, I have finished a new version of my 2010 story series, Rematch!, so check that out too if you will.
Moonlighters Update - Version 10.0
Tired of the never-ending bad news about the virus? Then why not play a game while you hunker down? Moonlighters has been updated to Version 10.0, and includes graphical and gameplay improvements. Plus, you can unlock a third playable character once you complete the demo. Check it out!
This Year's Valentine: A Wrinkle in Time
Meg Murry and Calvin O'Keefe from the "Time" books by Madeline L'Engle. Meg is a rare heroine that we don't see often these days, with straight-forward, clumsy emotions but also keen intellect. She and Calvin are both very intellectual, and the development in their relationship is some of the best you can get in YA fiction. They have been converted to my style, so Meg now has a suitable "anime meganekko" look about her.
(Happy Valentine's Day!)
Special Education Comic Adaptation!
I’ve just completed a comic book version of a scene from “Special Education,” the second story in my Goku/Arale fanfic series. This took me about two weeks to complete, and really took me out of my comfort zone as an artist, but I think it came out pretty well. Find it in the Dragon Ball section.
Moonlighters Update - Version 7.0
Last night, I uploaded Ver 7.0 of my “Moonlighters” game. Tarah Reichardt is now playable, with her own unique strengths and weaknesses. I also added “Install Programs” for the games, in case users don’t trust the EXE file. But the Install program is also an EXE file…? Hmm… O_o;
Moonlighters DEMO!
I’ve finally posted the demo for the videogame I’ve been working on for the past half-year! It’s called “Moonlighters,” and it’s a spin-off of “Different and Cool” that takes place 7 years later. As Andrew Champion, work your way to the end of the stage while fighting off the Mr. Blobs, R.E.M.s, and Claw Eyes that infest the area. It’s still a very rough demo, but I’ve ensured that it’s fun, so please check it out if you’re interested.
